            • Your location: Toronto, Canada

              Age (If you want): 27

How Primal are you: Primal 90% of the time

Do you consume dairy: however, I am planning to cut it out for a month to see the difference

Do you drink coffee or tea:Yes

Motivator for switching to Primal: it might sound odd, but I didn't need motivation, I sort of stumbled upon in on my own. Few years of experimenting with diets (former raw foodie.. yikes! the damage that is has done to my body was ridiculous!) led me to this lifestyle... trough trial and error i discovered how much better I function with no grains and sugar... and how amazing life is with the Fantastic Fat. This lifestyle has also pushed me to explore my interests further and I am currently working towards becoming a holistic nutritionist. I obviously plan to build my future practice around primal lifestyle as well as incorporating some metabolic typing principles

              Favorite exercise: crocs!

              Favorite Primal food: bacon

Best part about being Primal: the affect it has on my personality and mood. before primal, I was in depressive, miserable state 24/7, i would cry every other day, my physical body was constantly exhausted and my life felt as if it was going in slow motion. (since then i realized that carbs contribute largely to my parasympathetic dominance.) . Even now, once i "cheat" with carbs, i temporarily sink back in to that dark state of mind and weaken my physical body. But overall my mind is so much clearer, i see positivity everywhere i look! my energy levels improved drastically! will never every go back to anything else

Worst part about being Primal: i miss butter croissants!

              • Your location: Honolulu Hawaii

                Age (If you want): 37

How Primal are you: When I eat at home it's primal but eating out which I do a lot is another story.

Do you consume dairy: Love cheese!!!!! Sometimes icecream.

Do you drink coffee or tea: 1 cup of coffee every morning.

Motivator for switching to Primal: I'm 15#'s from my perfect weight. I live in hawaii so its always bathing suit season. I just wanna look fit and get rid of the extra #'s

                Favorite exercise: ashtanga yoga

Favorite Primal food: steak & bacon

Best part about being Primal: I love meat

Worst part about being Primal: I love having cocktails a couple times a week with friends and foods like french fries and chicken strips and nachos.

                • Hello... name's Russell.

Your location: The U (or for those who don't know, University of Miami in Florida)

                  Age (If you want): 21

How Primal are you: Hmm... well, I eschewed the Average Western Diet long ago. The bulk of my diet right now is vegetarian (though by no means am I a vegetarian, I'm just a college student with limited means!): beans, lentils, vegetables, fruit, nuts, etc. As far as grains are concerned, the only grains I have in my diet on a regular basis are Ezekiel bread and quinoa (but even then, quinoa's a seed so I don't know how well that fits). I'll add in some extra-dark chocolate on occasion, and after perusing the forum today I may nix my habit of peanut butter on a daily basis (and not just a small portion).

Do you consume dairy: Currently, no not really. When I'm home with family, I'm more susceptible to it, but the dairy is average grocery store fare and I stay away as much as possible. The most I do now is usually a few cubes of cheese from the sample bins at Whole Foods.

Do you drink coffee or tea: No, and yes. Rather, I will drink tea, but I rarely ever do (despite having a rather large stockpile of it).

Motivator for switching to Primal: Well, the thing is that there is so much conflicting nutritional information out there these days. Don't eat meat, eat meat, don't eat certain meats, eat those certain meats, don't eat meat more than xx times per day, etc. I'm looking right now to really settle and find the system that works best for my health and me. This may be it, this may not. I'm just here to see what happens. Of course, being of limited means as a college student (with, thanks to the horrid job market, no guaranteed income until September), I am wary of a switch due to the price of quality meat these days.

Favorite exercise: Big fan of bodyweight work. Don't know if I have a single favorite exercise, but various sprinting and plyo drills are fun.

Favorite Primal food: I'll never turn down a high-quality steak.

Best part about being Primal: I've not made the switch yet, so I can't say for sure.

Worst part about being Primal: I've not made the switch yet, so I can't say for sure, but I might say that the low fruit intake would be a bummer.
Are you a college student, trying to navigate college while being Primal? Do you know any other PB college students on a tight budget? Heck, for that matter, are YOU trying to live Primal on a budget? Enroll at Primal University!

For after all what is man in nature? A nothing in relation to infinity, all in relation to nothing, a central point between nothing and all and infinitely far from understanding either.

                  • New Paleo follower from the UK

I like the idea of this as an intro and also the likemindedness of the contributers, so here goes

Location: Manchester UK - wet and rainy usually and always ask why on earth I live here!

                    Age (If you want): 59

How Primal are you: Fairly. Like many folk I've been socialised into what I eat over many years but recognise that we are what we eat and much of what is advertised is junk! I read surgeon Captain Cleave's book The Sacharrine disease in 1975 and that got me thinking which eventually led me to Paleo diets.

Do you consume dairy: Our Paleolithic ancestors didn't so I try not to.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee, yes but not tea so much as i can't take it without milk as see above!

Motivator for switching to Primal: Surgeon Capt. Cleave and Lauren Cordains research.

                    Favorite exercise: Swimming

Favorite Primal food: Venison and Ostrich steaks

Best part about being Primal: Absolutely so simple to maintain a healthy weight. I dropped 10 pounds gradually when I started. My weight stabilised to 72Kg and really hasn't budged since. Eating on holidays is really easy too 'cos you can choose the most Paleo correct foods straight off the buffet!

Worst part about being Primal: Like other posters it's having to explain about things like wheat and dairy and why our genome has not yet evolved to accept them.

                    • Your location: Oxfordshire, UK

                      Age (If you want): 37

How Primal are you: Mostly... except I can't quite bring myself to give up oats in the morning completely.

Do you consume dairy: Yes. Try to part me from my Greek yoghourt if you dare.

Do you drink coffee or tea: No

Motivator for switching to Primal: Weight, and not wanting to follow in my father's footsteps to Type II diabetes, and wanting a diet that makes sense without obsessive counting and weird pseudo-foods.

Favorite exercise: Wow, how very very weird to imagine I might have one. Cycling.

                      Favorite Primal food: Mackerel

Best part about being Primal: All the little health 'bonuses' beside the weight loss: better hair, skin, teeth, joints...

Worst part about being Primal: Low-carb brain. Just about recovering from it now, I think/hope.

                      • Your location: Minnesota/Wisconsin

                        Age (If you want): 41

How Primal are you: Just getting started - about a week in

Do you consume dairy: For now, yes - if I get where I want and feel good, I'll continue to do so. If not, I'll look at cutting it out

Do you drink coffee or tea: Very occasional tea

Motivator for switching to Primal: Health (family history of diabetes, I have acid reflux), Weight (I currently weigh 225 (230 last week) and I'd be happier if that were less. How much less? I don't know - whatever feels right)

Favorite exercise: Video fitness!! I'm a huge VF nut and I love heavy weight lifting, yoga, kickbox cardio and some dance cardio. I am NOT a cardio junkie, I only workout at an intensity that remains fun for me. And HOOPING!! (new hobby)

Favorite Primal food: Avocado, shrimp, cashew butter

Best part about being Primal: No more heartburn!!!!

Worst part about being Primal: I thought it would be giving up spaghetti, but it's not....currently the wort part is simply that feeling of floundering while being overwhelmed by so much new information and learning how to rethink eating

Sassy: Revised - my primal log

                        • Hi everyone out there. My name is Scott and I am a newb to this primal thing. I have just finished Mark's book.

                          Your location: Baltimore, Maryland

Age (If you want): 37 almost 38

How Primal are you: Newbie, I have read the primal blueprint and have for the most part over the last three years had an active lifestyle and decent nutrition however I need to improve. I have lost 30 plus pounds of fat and im in good visible and cardiovascular shape but my diet is still a concern.

                          Do you consume dairy:
Unfortunately I do consume some dairy. Mostly yogurt and cheese. I have switched to almond milk a year ago.

Do you drink coffee or tea:
I do drink coffee about a cup a day.

                          Motivator for switching to Primal:
I want to be healthy...truly healthy...I have begun to consider the things I eat and Mark's book makes a lot of sense.

                          Favorite exercise:
I probably like doing yoga the most (even thought that is not an exercise but a discipline). I also like doing pullups.

                          Favorite Primal food:
                          Cashews? Are they primal?

                          Best part about being Primal:
I don't yet know I hope to find out.

                          Worst part about being Primal:
Hoping there is none but I am sure the fact that you are on an "island" via the way you eat from others. Its not the food just the whole misery loves company of know "why don't you eat normal?"

                          • I am a newbie!! I just finished reading the book last night, although throughout the week it took me to read it, I was clearing out grains from the cabinets and buying primal food.
Your location: Apple Valley, California (on the way to Vegas

Age (If you want): almost 41

How Primal are you: just starting, but plan to be all about the fat, animals and plants... no grains and possibly a little dairy here and there (cottage cheese and cheese)

Do you consume dairy: yes, see above

Do you drink coffee or tea: not really. sometimes I may have a cup of decaf during the winter months. tea is very rare.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Honestly, P90X brought me here. With Mark being the creator of the recovery formula for that program, I started searching for Mark to learn what he may be offering to the public in terms of his knowledge. In April 2010, I was at 41.1% body fat, and sick of being that way. Not only did I need to move more, but I longed for correct information on what to put inside my body, as I felt that was the biggest problem... apparently it is. I found Mark on facebook and now here, ordered his book and telling everyone I know about it!

                            Favorite exercise: lifting heavy things

Favorite Primal food: butter (oh that's not really a food, but a fat) REAL eggs with homemade salsa on top with a little cheddar cheese

Best part about being Primal: being able to have fat, real eggs, and any meat I want. also, I look forward to sustained energy levels and a much healthier and happier lifestyle. oh, one more thing, to have the ability to pass this on to my young children who will benefit from this lifestyle so much!

Worst part about being Primal: I am a sandwich lover, so I will miss my bread holding my lunchmeat and tomatoes.

                            • Your location: BC

                              Age (If you want): 28

How Primal are you: I just started on July 5, but I would say I am at 80-90%. Grains and sugar are gone and I don't miss them.

Do you consume dairy: Yes. Butter, a bit of cheese, and a bit of cream.

Do you drink coffee or tea: I drink coffee once in a while but not habitually.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Fat loss and permanent lifestyle change.

Favorite exercise: Yoga (Bikram or Baptiste Power Yoga) & Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

Favorite Primal food: Butter + egg yolk = hollandaise. Plus avocado and EVOO.

Best part about being Primal: Stabilized hunger patterns (no post-lunch crash).

Worst part about being Primal: Eating less fruit. I've replaced my morning smoothie with an omelet. It's not so bad.

                              • I don't remember doing this when I first got here....although I DID definitely say "hi" to all elsewhere! I've already started my Primal Journal (I'm in here for the long haul) You can say hi to me Here goes:

                                NYC, age 45
Almost totally primal when I started!
Am now ruling out dairy of all sorts except kefir every few days when my gut needs it
Am now ruling out decaf coffee, even, except for special occasions (lets my body voice its energy/nutritional needs truthfully)
I switched because I got tired of Doctors writing funky, complicated high protein diet books for their own profit. Plus my 36% body fat.
Dancing - when I can get back to it safely Till then, power-walking or trekking with poles
MMMM.....ribs or turkey bacon or kippered herrings (smoky stuff!)
Best: The food helps me understand why I need to continually de-stress my life
Worst: Seeing skinny, aloof, rude youngsters thronging Whole Foods Market across the street to go and grab their whole-grains whatever, and wanting to slap em!!
