  • Kettlebells, sandbags, medicine balls or?

I use very light freeweights, but now I want to get started "lifting heavy things" along with my husband at home. What kind of weights do you recommend for beginners. We're in our early 50s and pretty fit, but no experience lifting weights.

I've watched video workouts for all three types above and they all seem pretty good, so I don't know which we should buy, and what weight. I'm 5'6" 130lbs. Hubs is 6'4" 190.

i am my favorite weight...meaning i mostly do bodyweight exercises and get great results. but, from what you have listed, i like sandbags the best. you don't just lift them; you have to hold them and balance them so they make for a great workout

I am a big fan of kettlebells. A fabulous book is Body Sculpting with Kettlebells for Women.

All good choices! Just pick one and start as soon as possible.
