Does anyone use the fruit smoothies offered by the large fast food chain? Supposed to be just fruit and ice right? I was just thinking it would be ok in a pinch with some protein powder. thanx

If you mean the ones from McDonalds, then its ingredients are fruit, ice and "low fat yogurt" (halfway down page 23 of this PDF)....the problem is that low fat yogurt can contain TONS of stuff that they aren't listing out. It's likely LOADED with high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup solids.

Besides, a ton of fruit on its own is a lot of sugar.

Oh, hey, you know what? Here's an easier-accessed ingredients list:
McDonald’s USA - Wild Berry Smoothie (Small)

I'll bold the reasons you shouldn't eat this stuff. The SMALL size has 48 grams of carbs! My recommendation would be to get a blender and throw some real yogurt and real fruit in it along with your protein powder.

        Wild Berry Fruit Blend
Strawberry puree, water, sugar, blackberry puree, blueberry puree, concentrated pineapple juice, concentrated apple juice, contains less than 1% of the following: cellulose powder, xanthan gum, colored with fruit and vegetable juice, natural (botanical source) and artificial flavors, pectin, citric acid.

Low Fat Yogurt (Cultured Grade A reduced fat milk, sugar, whey protein concentrate, fructose, corn starch, gelatin. Contains active yogurt cultures.)

I would agree with carlh... I would steer clear of any fast food purchased fruit smoothie... even in a pinch. I'd rather pass it up and fast.
Self-realization. I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"
