  • 10.5 lbs in 5 days

I just wanted to put this out there. I have done a lot of "diets" in my young years. I've tried just eating less and moving more (while filling up with all those carbs!) I have tried Atkins, I've even tried taking OTC pills to help me lose the more than 100lbs that I have put on since I was 16.

Over a month ago, my work started talking about going Primal. We have a guy that has worked there awhile that lost 60lbs and has maintained that weight loss on an 80/20 system for over two years. He sat us down and told us what it was all about. Something clicked. It just made sense.

I started five days ago. I gave up sugar, carbs soda and juice cold turkey. I used to eat fast food (I craved it and, to be honest, it doesn't even sound good at this point) nearly every day for my lunch at work. My diets always ended when I didn't see results. I would be hungry, killing myself working out and only lose 1 - 3 lbs.

I have lost 10.5lbs in 5 days on this. While I don't expect that sort of momentum to continue, OMG! I feel amazing. I'm not hungry, I am moving but not to exhaustion. I don't crave foods (except for the occasional sweet which I satisfy with a handful of raspberries or a few minutes' intense work out). This is great. My co-worker was right - this isn't a diet, it is a way of life and it works amazingly well.

You're off to a great start! And very funny about the height goal. I could use a couple of inches as well

I'm not sure why, but reading your post made me cry. I'm just so happy. I get really emotional when I see or hear or read about someone being happy or achieving something.

Like when you said "I have lost 10.5lbs in 5 days on this. While I don't expect that sort of momentum to continue, OMG! I feel amazing.", that was it for me.

            I'm still crying.

            I'm so happy for you.

YAY! for you . I've been easing into the Primal way for close to a month now and I have to say I'm really happy so far with it all. I used to workout 5 days a week, for an hour, running on a treadmill or doing some other intense cardio, first thing in the morning, then feel tired most of the day, I thought I was supposed to feel energized lol. I was HUNGRY all the time, but I usually lost on average 1-2 lbs a week and I thought well, I guess that is the way I have to do it.

I'm SO happy I came across the Primal Blueprint, it opened my eyes to new things, I wasn't 100% sure about it all and I am still in the early days, but the biggest surprise has been in the workout out department...I try to get in about 30 min of "fun" exercise a day, then do a short 10 min walk on my treadmill after my dinner if I feel like it. I'm not killing myself pounding on the treadmill anymore, I use my Wii Fit Plus( it gives me a good workout, but it feels like play!) , I basically pick and choose what I feel like doing on any given day...but I'm NOT hungry all the time and I'm still losing about 2 lbs a week going Primal. This really surprised me!

I thought I would really really miss the grains, I'm a big rice eater and I love to bake bread, BUT I feel so much better without that in my daily diet that it makes it all that much easier to stick to Primal.

I feel so much better now, I have more energy, I enjoy making my playtime my exercise and basically not killing myself doing aerobics. I am getting the same kind of weight loss results doing Primal as the old cardio days, BUT I feel so much BETTER, like I can do anything now, I feel stronger and I can feel my body changing. I rarely snack now, I don't feel famished all day long and I don't feel freakin tired all day! YAY !

It is still early days, I'm about a month in and I'm still learning the ropes, re-reading the Primal Blueprint so I make sure I understand it well, then turn around and apply it to my life. I would say about a week or so into it, my digestion problems settled down to the point of being non-existent and I'm pretty sure it is directly related to the grains. I saw a GI specialist for my digestive issues, they put me on some meds and mentioned being tested for a wheat allergy or sensitivity, that never came about for some reason, but now that I've removed them from my diet myself, I suspect that I may have an issue with them after all...going Primal for me has literally ended the rumbly gurgly gut and bloated feelings..who knew! lol.

I do enjoy reading all the great advice here and look forward to advancing in my Primal journey!

Great job, ludo! Hope to see you active on the board for a long time! Yes, it was that initial weight loss that kept me on primal! You're doing great! Keep going!

Oh wow, congrats! I have to admit, I'm a little jealous, you beat me by 4.5 pounds.

It may have started as an office idea, but seriously, this stuff is so easy, you can achieve what you want without having to feel hungry, or like you're missing out. Cheers! Keep it up, it will take time to hit your goal, but if you stick with it, you will.

                        Good luck.

Over the last two days, I worked hard not to eat between meals. Today was the first day that I didn't feel hungry between my meals. Breakfast was at 10 and I just started getting hungry around 3:30 so I ate lunch at 4 and then I got home at 9 and prepared dinner and was hungry when it was ready about 9:30. It was great not to feel like I needed to snack during the day! Yay!

Well done - I lost 10lb my first week which was a great boost - since then I've lost an average of around 2lb a week so I'm really happy as I don't feel hungry or like I'm on a diet and the weight is still going down slowly but surely. - Lost 17lb in 5 weeks.
                            1st June 11 to 30st Aug 11 - 36lb removed in 13 weeks
Messed about on and off for the rest of the year

June 2012 - Had the practice - now time to do it for real

Agree with everything you said. I started on Atkins but a buddy at work loaned me Mark's book, and it just made so much sense. Atkins (VLC) is not something I could keep up forever, but PB most definitely is.

I'm proof that you can push through those inevitable stalls!!
